Citation Analysis of Doctoral Theses Submitted to The University of Agricultural Science; Gandhi Krishi Vignyan Kendra (GKVK) Bangalore

Citations in Doctoral Theses submitted to The University of Agricultural Science; Gandhi KrishiVignyan Kendra (GKVK) Bangalore during the period 2001 – 2011, were analyzed for finding probable relationships between citing articles and bibliographic forms. Frequency and percentage distributions and measures of cumulative frequency isused to analyze data. Findings shows that journals are the most used reference materials in the Theses. Also, Horticulture department in general had the highest number of citations followed by Genetics and Plant Breeding. The lowest numbers of citations was from Plant Biotechnology.Agricultural Microbiology,Agricultural Economics, Crop Physiology,Seed Scien ce and Technology, Soil Science andAgriculture Chemistry, Agricultural Entomology, Plant Pathology, Sericulture, Agronomy, Agricultural Extension,Foods and Nutritionfall in between the highest and lowest numbers of citations.
