Abstract - Books have been the veritable sources of knowledge in human history, and through the knowledge they preserve, peace in Nigeria and Africa can be achieved. Libraries are guided by laws in their provision of information resources and services. The first law of library science “Books are for use” places emphasis on usage rather than storage and this guarantees every user freedom to choose and read books of their interest without restriction. This paper therefore, dwells on the first law of library science, the position of libraries and librarians in providing access to information resources and services for peace education, challenges encountered and recommendations were made. This paper concluded that the world would be nothing without book.
